Akiko Suda: Flowers on the Hill

Flowers On The Hill is a beautiful album of tender and impeccably delivered music from the vocalist Akiko Suda. The album features lovely original compositions as well as a balanced mix of jazz, bossa, and pop standards done in a loving and artistic way with creative arrangements.

The talented backing band plays sensitively, at times sounding like a top-notch Brad Mehldau-inspired piano trio, and creates a perfect lush background for featuring Suda’s masterful voice.

The album starts off with four strong, catchy original numbers, moves into jazz material with songs like “Waters of March” and “What a Wonderful World”, and closes sweetly with two pop songs, Paul McCartney’s “Blackbird” and Randy Newman’s “I Think It’s Going To Rain Today”.
